2008.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(In English)<\/p>\n<p>His Eminence, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Thebes and Levadeia Georgios Mantzouranis was born in Naxos island in 1952.<\/p>\n<p>After his general education, he studied at the Ecclesiastical Schools of Corinth and Tinos and at the Higher Ecclesiastical School of Athens. He served in Hellenic Army from January 1973 until July 1975.<\/p>\n<p>In 1976, he was ordained deacon by the Metropolitan of Nikaia Georgios Paulidis, he served for six years in the parish of Saint Loukas at Patissia and meanwhile he attended pastoral training courses for two years in \u201cEvagelismos\u201d hospital, where he specialized in patients counseling.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, he participated in anti-heretical seminars of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens. In 1981, he graduated in the Faculty of Theology of the University of Athens.<\/p>\n<p>In 1982, he was ordained presbyter by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Thebes and Livadia who is now the Archbishop of Athens Hieronymos II.<\/p>\n<p>He served as a preacher in Holy Metropolis of Thebes and Livadia, and from 1983 until 1987, as a vicar and head of Aliartos area being at the same time, an abbot consultant in the Holy Monastery of Hosios Loukas.<\/p>\n<p>He developed catechetical action in many areas such as Aliartos, Agios Georgios, Kyriaki, Steirion and Levadeia and he served at the Metropolis youth camp as a spiritual guide.<\/p>\n<p>From 1986 he permanently settled in Holy Monastery of Hosios Loukas and from October 1987 he remained an abbot of the Monastery until he was elected Metropolitan.<\/p>\n<p>He gave a particular significance to the revival of the liturgical life of the Monastery and the reception and hospitality of pilgrims and visitors.<\/p>\n<p>He harmoniously collaborated with the services of the Ministry of Culture and he contributed to a mutual spirit of confidence for the benefit of the Monastery.<\/p>\n<p>During his abbotship, with the contribution and the support of the local agents and authorities as well as Voiotia\u2019s pilgrims and the pilgrims all over the country and abroad, many buildings and spaces of the Monastery and 5 historical chapels were maintained, reconstructed and reopened.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the temples of the Monastery and the hosting grounds were embellished and renovated.
